Video Production Private Course Curriculum

Session I
Participants will be introduced to several types of video products commonly used by video production business units, by reviewing the company profile video, wedding video & event coverage video samples.
Participants will then receive an explanation of the tools of everyday use, among other video camera (with supporting peripherals), FireWire, scanner, color printer, multimedia pc, microphone, cd recorders, also the material that is video cassette (tape), cd / dvd blank, cd label, cover art paper, cd boxes, plastic protector, and others.
Participants will then be a quick look at the workflow of a number of software that are widely used in this field, such as Premiere Pro, Ulead Video Studio, Photoshop, After Effects, 3D album, Illusion, Ulead Cool 3D, ACD See, TMP enc, Nero Burning, VCD Cutter. Participants will also be briefed about the various file format / extension of input and output that will be widely used, ie jpg, tif, tga, png, avi, mov, wmv, mpg, dat, wav, AIFF, mp3.
Participants will then be briefed about the concept of Pre-Production – Production – Post Production, through the documents created in a number of video production projects, starting from the Term of Reference, to the production design, scheduling, scenarios and storyboards to be a reference work during the production process .
Then the participants will see some sample ” video clip remaking ” products, try to appreciate, then get an explanation of the similar production tasks as job duties during their courses.
Then the participants will be given an overview of the curricula and study schedules, as well as goals to be achieved in the activities of this course. Also described the needs of the manpower in this field.
At the end of this first session, participants will have a direct acquaintance with the main program used is Adobe Premiere Pro 2.0. This software will be used to parse a music video clips into a storyboard in a Word file, which is then printed on paper.
Participants will then take home a printout storyboard. Expected to occur the creative process, namely the presence of the idea to give another visualization, that can be produced with all the limitations that exist (skill, property, time, cost, etc.).
Sesion II : Basic Shooting
In classroom, participants will get an explanation about the basic theory of shooting, such as angle, camera movement, the focus of interest, lighting, as shown in drawing examples from the field.
Participants will also get a photocopied sheet of this material for further study at home. As a continuation of the videoclips project, participants will share ideas, and then with the guidance of instructors will begin to formulate it into the form of a synopsis.
Session III : Shooting Practice
At the field, participants will try to exploit the power of visual language by recording images (shooting) an object or event in a short duration (maximum 3 minutes) with the aim that such recordings have clear communication messages that can be understood by the audience without any addition information (text, narration, backsong, etc.).
Example: market hustle, bustle, commerce, the activities in the office, athletes practicing endurance, a funny cat (or lonely), beautiful flower gardens, hard work cleaning the city, etc.
Session IV : Evaluation & Discussion
In the classroom, video recordings which have been transferred, will be presented by each participant, followed by evaluation and discussion. To test the effectiveness of the communication power of visual language, each participant who did the shooting should submit a written message that he wanted to convey through the video recordings.
The video was then shown in class and any other participants will try to interpret the video he witnessed. Level of this visual language effectiveness will be easily known by comparing the message that was written with the meaning of video by viewers.

Session V : Videoclip Pre Production (Production Design)
Once familiar with the field of video production as a result of the four previous sessions, participants will begin the real project, that is pre production of video clips remaking project. Starting from the research, production design, casting, scheduling, to the formulation of scenarios.
Participants will receive the emphasis that the pre-production processes absolutely must be done properly for ease of further processing (production and post-production), that “failure to plan just the same as planning for failure.”
Session VI : Videoclip Pre Production (Storyboard)
Participants will continue the activities of pre-production stage by making  storyboard. Instructors will act as a third person who will do the critics of this storyboard, as an analogy from the world of the real production process.
Session VII : Videoclip Pre Production (Layouting)
After making the necessary revisions, pre-production activities continue to video layout making in a video editing program. This stage is very important since the product output, ie the video layout, will give the “sense” of final product, primarily is the sense of time and appropriation of video and audio.
Session VIII : Shooting
The participants will record the pictures (shooting) with a reference from the storyboard, by running their respective roles as clearly defined in the document production design.
Session IX : Post Production 1 (Digitizing & Basic Editing)
The participants will transfer the results of shooting into each computer. This process can be regarded as digitizing, so be in line with other processes such as scanning and collecting other materials needed. File management will be discussed as important thing.
In this early editing stages, the participants will be briefed about the workflow of the Premiere Pro application, basic tools, and basic functions such as cut-edit, paste, speed, layering. Remaining time can be used for participants to experiment with existing transition libraries. For that will be provided the Pinnacle Alpha Magic files collection, which is required for the transition gradient variations.
Session X : Post Production 2 (Video Effect)
Participants will be introduced to the clip transformation functions and various effects. Participants will exploit these effects to be implemented on his own project, with emphasis given that in reality, these effects are used by professionals to strengthen and clarify the purpose of communication, and not to “damage” the visual language and communication purposes.
Sesi XI : Post Production 3 (Voice Over, Audio Mixing, Audio Effect)
The participants will try to make the process of making voice over with simple pc microphones, audio mixing with the existing sound libraries, and tried the audio effects function in Premiere Pro software. This process is often necessary in the daily activities of video production business units. Thus, at this session participants have the option of experimenting with dubbing, audio mixing and audio effects, or continue editing.
Session XII : Post Production  4 (Image Editing by Photoshop)
To the participants will be introduced to the most advanced image processing software widely used by professionals, namely Adobe Photoshop. After learning the basic tools, participants will learn the strong link between the Photoshop and Premiere software.
Even library of photographs can be made into a “life picture”, using a combination of Photoshop and Premiere software. Experiment with Photoshop is expected as a creative process that would produce some visual elements that enrich the editing project.
Session XIII : Post Production 5 (Basic 2D Animation)
Participants will begin to recognize the most simple principles of animation that can be found in the workflow of the Adobe Image Ready software. To participants will be evident that the animation as a “moving image of an object” is a collection of a large number of still images that are pose in different situation, which is displayed in a very short duration sequences. From here the participants will be familiar with the term fps (frames per second) and a number of video formats.
As a follow-up, the participants will be introduced to Adobe After Effects software that is widely used by graphics professionals. Participants will learn the basic functions such as clip transformation. In conjunction with real projects, experiment with Image Ready and After Effects are expected to become a means of creative process that can produce visual elements that enrich the real editing project.

Session XIV : Post Production 6 (Text Animation using After Effect)
Participants will be introduced to the concept of typography (the study offont / typeface) and then straight into the text animation preset provided by After Effects software. Participants will also receive an explanation to modify this text animation by introducing the concept of keyframe.
Furthermore, the participants will try to process the output into several file formats, including tiff sequence, so that these visual elements can be used as an overlayer on the video editing software.
Session XV : Post Production 7 (Particle Animation using Illusion)
Participants will be introduced to the particle animation as a visual element that will enrich the visual appearance and therefore are widely used by professionals in their work especially for the “bumper” (opening animation).
Participants will have the opportunity to exploit Particle Illusion software with its rich library. Instructor will then explain how to export the movie into tiff format animation sequences so that the material particles can be used as an overlayer on the video editing software.
Session XVI : Post Production 8 (Slideshow Animation using 3D Album)
Participants will be introduced to 3D Album software that is widely used by business units to make an opening video using  still images  library (mainly photos). Participants will experiment with a number of animation templates that are already available, then export the movie in a typical way held by the software.
Session XVII : Post Production 9 (Basic 3D Animation)
Participants will be acquainted with the concept of 3D, from modeling, materials, animating, lighting and rendering, using a simple 3D animation software. Participants will have the opportunity to experiment with a number of available templates and export movie into tiff format sequences so that this 3D animation material can be used as an overlayer on the Premiere program.
Session XVIII : Post Production 10 (Fine-Tune Editing)
Final editing with Premiere is done by processing the materials with the possibility of additional visual elements such as animated graphics, text, particles, slide shows and 3D animation.
Experimentation, exploitation and the enrichment of material with visual elements and effects can be tolerated as far as it is realized by the participants as part of learning. Another option is to simply add visual elements and effects that can significantly strengthen the image and communication purposes.

Session XIX : Post Production 11 (Rendering – Output)
Participants will do the final rendering of each project. Instructors will explain some steps to be performed and the file formats that are commonly used, ranging from rendering in Premiere to DV AV formats, converting to MPG format with TMPEnc applications, to burn and copy CDs / DVDs using Nero and similar programs.
By comparing the work among the participants, they will realize the proportional relationship between the number of effects (including transitions) used in the editing project by the rendering time required. To participants will also be shown other rendering alternatives that save time and hard-disk space but at the expense of image quality using Adobe MPEG Encoder.
Through a series of finishing processes and the burning, the participants will have an awareness about the importance of having a sense of time, considering that it often becomes one of the main factors of failure to meet project deadlines.
Session XX : Packaging Design & Production
Participants will design their own CD labels and CD / DVD covers boxes with Photoshop, as well as print out the cd label and art paper.
Session XXI : Evaluation
Each participant will present their respective work in the classroom in front of his fellow participants, instructors and others who were invited to give an appreciation of art works produced.
